Get ready for the 4th edition of the Maats Alps Trip — our annual cycling adventure in Puy Saint Vincent, nestled in the heart of the French Alps. Taking place in late May to early June, this trip marks the perfect start to the early summer. Surrounded by iconic climbs, breathtaking scenery, and a group of like-minded riders, you’ll experience the Alps in true Maats style: challenging rides, great company, and everything taken care of from start to finish.

Many of our members have joined this trip before — and for good reason. Puy Saint Vincent remains the perfect base with top-notch facilities, warm hospitality, and endless riding possibilities. That’s why we’re excited to expand the experience this year with not only new road routes, but also a dedicated gravel program for those who want to explore the Alps off the beaten track.

Our Stay

For the fourth year in a row, we’ll be staying at Hotel Saint Roch in Puy-Saint-Vincent — our trusted base in the French Alps. This charming mountain hotel offers everything you need for a perfect cycling week: comfortable rooms, stunning views over the valley, a private bike storage area, and delicious three-course dinners served each evening.

We’re in great hands here, as the hotel is run by two long-time friends of Maats: Anne and Simon. Anne is the talented chef behind every post-ride meal, and Simon you might know as one of the co-organisers of Le Pilgrimage. Their hospitality and passion for cycling make Saint Roch feel like home every time we return.

Rides

The region around Puy Saint Vincent and Briançon offers an endless variety of alpine roads, and for 2026 we’ve mapped out a fresh selection of routes. From well know climbs untill hidden gems, every ride delivers quiet roads, breathtaking scenery, and that perfect Maats blend of challenge and adventure. Check the routes from the latest edition here. 

New for this edition is our gravel program, created by Simon, co-organiser of Le Pilgrimage and route master of the region. Knowing every gravel track and scenic shortcut around Puy Saint Vincent, Simon has designed unforgettable routes through remote valleys and rugged alpine terrain. Each day you’ll have the choice between a road and a gravel route — both showcasing the very best of the Southern Alps.

Level

When you're not used to climbing and riding in the mountains, it can be hard to know whether this trip matches your level. During this trip every climb is ridden at your own pace, and at the top we always wait for everyone before descending and riding together through the valleys. We’ll split into smaller groups based on level, and each day offers both a long and a short route to choose from. The focus is on shared adventure, good legs, and great company.

This trip is all about enjoying the ride, not racing it. If you’re looking for a real challenge, you might want to join our other Alps event instead: La Marmotte. Riding days: Saturday late afternoon, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Every day both road and gravel option.

Travel options: The most common option is by car. The (night) train is also an option. We will provide carpool possibilities.

Bike transport: Enjoy the convenience of a bike transfer with the Maats Sprinter.
